Its not often we get a girls day out , but when Rita and I got invited to the luxurious Galgorm hotel we quickly accepted with no hesitation.
The Galgorm is one of Northern Irelands top hotels and is the ultimate all-in-one location for anything you could possibly need for a luxury break. Just last year the resort unveilled its £11million pound extension ( with an extra 50 rooms) and more importantly for us, its Thermal village which after experiencing it, it truly is unrivalled in Northern Ireland.
An outdoor hot tub, log fire, sauna, samarium, orangery, pool, snow cabin- the list is endless. Its all there to sooth you whilst overlooking the tranquil rapids of the river Maine. The thermal spa village at Galgorm is something to behold.
I opted for their molten stone energy massage treatment . Having always gone for a traditional Swedish massage at any other spa visits… ( I know its good.. who wants to risk trying something new ?!) .. I was a tad nervous at having a hot stone massage, and hoping it would be ever bit as relaxing … I wasn’t wrong.
The heat of the stones was so therapeutic, they are coated in a fragrant oil which is smoothed gently onto your body. The heat relaxes your body so your therapist can focus on a deep working of the tissues ( and apparently I needed it… could have told you that though). It triggered a deeply relaxed, blissed- out and meditative state and I practically fell asleep. After 90 minutes my lovely therapist brought me back around to the real world , and encouraged me to drink plenty of water to re-hydrate my body. I honestly can’t recommend this enough to melt away all your knots, aches and worries.
We were spoiled with freshly baked warm scones, lightly whipped fresh cream, delicious home made jam and a selection of miniature savouries and deserts. The relaxed atmosphere of the conservatory located next to the fast flowing water of the River Maine is the perfect spot to unwind with friends, or celebrate a special occasion.
The Galgorm is the ultimate all-in -one location for a luxury break in Northern Ireland, whether it just be a treatment, an afternoon tea or a weekend away, I cannot recommend it enough.
